The NAGGW Youth Volunteers program intends to unlock, harness, and coordinate the vast potentials of the youth energy in the region into opportunities for achieving holistic nature-based solutions development and realization of the Great Green Wall vision in Nigeria.

NAGGW will facilitate the implementation of the volunteers' activities with the provision of necessary resources to achieve set targets towards realising the Great Green Wall initiative and vision while capturing the essence of raising the livelihood index and alleviating poverty in targeted communities. Under the coordination of NAGGW, the youth volunteers will be engaged in different sets of tasks and roles meant to deliver actionable solutions in the Nigerian Drylands.

Interest Group Programmes

Afforestation / Reforestation
One of the Core mandates of the NAGGW, is to combat land degradation, desertification and improve the resilience of affected communities to the impacts of climate change. Volunteers will learn and take part in the entire process from learning how to raise seedlings to planting activities such as establishment of shelterbelts, Orchards, Acacia Senegal, Woodlots and so on.

Income and Job Creation
A critical aim of the NYVP is to provide more job opportunities for our teeming youth and women. Through our activities in afforestation, reforestation, capacity building, public enlightenment campaigns and alternative sources of energy, we will provide opportunities that enhances rural economy, generates employment and improves rural income.

Capacity Development of the Volunteers
We will focus on strengthening the skills, competencies and abilities of the youth and women population to improve their livelihoods and provide them with the critical tool to overcome their exclusion and suffering.

Public Enlightenment
In line with our mandate, the volunteers will partake in massive sensitization and public awareness campaign on the goals and objectives of the programme, promotion of private sector and stakeholder participation, and ultimately mobilize the affected communities to learn and take part in the implementation of the Great Green Wall programme.

Alternative Source of Energy
The program will provide diverse opportunities for volunteers to learn more about alternative sources of energy that reduces deforestation, enhances carbon sequestration, eliminates dependency on the scarce natural resources, enhances rural economy and generates sustainable employment for our youth and women.
